So far this crime syndicate isn’t gaining nearly as much traction as the skill-destroying AI. The key to AI’s success is its INVITING qualities. Millions of useful idiots have started playing with ChatGPT, which is fiendishly designed to produce instant addiction.
There’s no addictive or game-like quality in the eyeball theft. You “sell” your soul to Sam and he “pays” you with a bitcoin thingamajig that you can’t spend anywhere. In the older version of this transaction, Satan paid you with a fortune in real silver.
The suckers for bitcoin are pretty much used up by now, so this isn’t hugely attractive.
