McDiarmid praises two professional arguers for arguing without nastiness.
The result is the type of interaction we’re secretly craving more of these days — energetic conversation between people with differing views but who demonstrate respect for one another, for themselves, and for those who may be watching.
I’m not craving pointless argument whether civilized or not. This argument is about totally untestable and unexperimentable topics like the origin of the universe. It’s not science, and it’s not even useful philosophy.
Argument doesn’t solve problems.
Experimentation solves problems.
No powerful people are solving problems. All powerful people are demons who manufacture raw evil, forcing the rest of us to fight and defend ourselves against raw evil instead of solving our own problems.
None of this crap, civilized or not, has the slightest microinfluence on the demons who are busily preparing the next NAZI TORTURE CAMP.
Maybe this crap is entertaining to McDiarmid. Fine. Each has his own fetish. But it’s not more valuable than other kinds of porn.
EXPERIENCE SURVIVES. THEORY KILLS.
