DeSantis’s consultants and advisors are training him to be somebody else. He’s basically an introvert, so his efforts to laugh and talk like an extrovert CAN’T POSSIBLY WORK.

Goddamn it, he knows when to smile. Never. These are serious times demanding a serious leader, not a raucous clown.
He has a solid authentic PROVEN brand as the only problem-solver and defender of people in US politics. He doesn’t need to act like Trump. Nobody needs to act like Trump. Let Trump fight alone in his own ring. Choose your own ring to match your own abilities.
Take a lesson from Lia Thomas’s troubles. Thomas is trying to “be” a woman, which is the most egregious and impossible form of inauthenticity. The other competitors are figuring out that they should just leave him alone in the pool, along with all the other fake “women” in other forms of athletics.
At this point, DeSantis’s reliance and obedience to those advisors has already spoiled his uniqueness. If he doesn’t have the judgment to BE HIS OWN GODDAMN SELF, he doesn’t have good judgment in general. If he can’t resist the blandishments (literally) of consultants, who can he resist?
