One promising note

The philosophers and Intelligent Design folks are still handling the wrong end of the AI question, trying to knock its competence and credibility and HumanPersonNess. Those qualities are IRRELEVANT to the Tech Tyrants who are mobilizing and implementing AI.

The Hollywood strikers, who were formerly on the wrong side of nearly all questions, are hitting the right end of AI. They recognize that Wall Street and Silicon Valley have ONLY ONE GOAL. Eliminate all human skill and human labor. Offshoring took care of most manufacturing skills. The lockdown helped Bezos to kill small businesses. AI will destroy all creative skills.

Before now, Hollywood was strongly assisting the environmental end of the Tech Tyrant crusade against humanity. “Environmental justice” wiped out factories in black neighborhoods that formerly employed black men for upscale wages.

Fran still talks “global burning”, which casts some doubt on the clarity of her intentions. But overall the unions are finally doing what unions were meant to do. Guard and advance and improve human SKILLS.

There’s one promising note from the capital end of this dispute. Barry Diller, one of the big studio honchos, now mostly retired, is advising the non-Tech studios to split off from the Tech Tyrants and make a proper deal with the strikers. When part of an iceberg breaks off, the rest is easier to melt.
