I stopped tracking the “climate” fight in 2018 after I decided that most advocates on the side of truth are not really defending truth, just making money. Now I try to determine the truth for myself, and try to live according to the truth, and that’s all.
I didn’t even know about the Mann vs Steyn trial until this week when the verdict was announced. No particular sympathy for either side. Mann is a perfect demon, and I got tired of Steyn a long time ago. Like Ann Coulter, he’s an opportunist, not a truth-teller.
Still, the verdict is not good for truth. Several writers have blamed the location, which is certainly a big part. DC is strictly one-sided, and there’s never a chance for truth to win in a city built on bureaucracy and academia.
One commenter probably hit the biggest point: Steyn didn’t hire a lawyer and defended himself. Stupid. He has plenty of money, and he ought to understand that major trials are NEVER about letting the truth speak for itself. Lawyers have SKILLS that even a well-trained defendant lacks. Lawyers know how to pick a jury, how to read a jury, and how to move a jury. It’s worth paying a lot to get the SERVICE of those SKILLS.
Steyn didn’t hire a lawyer, therefore he intended to lose. It’s the same plan used by other fake defenders, and it’s classic cult behavior. Keep losing so the suckers will keep contributing. Parkinson.
