At the moment this strikes me as a pretty good metaphor.
In the crazy countries birthrate is declining FAST. Youngsters aren’t interested in reproducing. Lots of explanations are offered. Some are sensible, some are stupidly partisan. It’s all Trump’s fault or it’s all Biden’s fault.
Simpler: Nature takes care of business.
This is cultural menopause.
When individuals reach an age when they won’t be able to raise a child to adulthood, they lose the ability (F) and the desire (M) to reproduce.
When cultures reach an age when they won’t be able to raise a child to adulthood, they lose the ability and the desire to reproduce.
