Berliner made some mild criticisms of the North Korean climate inside NPR. He’s undoubtedly playing the usual cancel trick, setting up a lease-breaking party that guarantees firing under harsh conditions so he can go elsewhere and spread North Korea to the few remaining real independents.
Now the current employees have made his points far more salient, begging the North Korean CEO to go even more NK. The language sounds exactly like Maoist posters from the Cultural Revolution.
DILIGENTLY REBUKE REVISIONIST-ROADERS!
DILIGENTLY ENFORCE CHAIRMAN-MAO-THOUGHT!
THE SUNLIGHT OF CHAIRMAN-MAO-THOUGHT ILLUMINATES THE GREAT PROLETARIAN REVOLUTION!
ADVANCE VICTORIOUSLY WHILE FOLLOWING CHAIRMAN MAO’S REVOLUTIONARY LINE IN LITERATURE AND ARTS!

I listened to Radio Peking in the ’60s. It sounded just like the posters, overmodulated and constantly shouting in ALL CAPS. CHAIRMANMAOTHOUGHT was one unbreakable word, like FORMERPRESIDENTTRUMP or JANUARY6VIOLENTINSURRECTION or RUSSIANAGGRESSION in the overmodulated screech of modern “journalists”.
