This is pure nonsense. The Krauts were doing it in 1944, and our guided missiles were doing it routinely in the ’50s.
Here’s a nice visual proof in a Vintage.es article. In 1959 the Post Office got involved with the Army in a project to deliver mail by missile. The project was silly, but undoubtedly helped to test and improve missiles. Note especially the 2nd picture showing the missile landing on an ordinary runway, wheels down, like an ordinary human-piloted airplane.
