Classic mixed feelings about this headline at Eurekalert:

Exposure to past temperature variability may help forests cope with climate change

On the one hand they’re still running the “climate” genocide.

On the other hand they’ve finally accepted that Lamarck and Lysenko were mostly right and Darwin was mostly wrong.

I’m going to take this as a net positive, because the “climate” stuff is automatic and no longer especially meaningful. You MUST relate your study to “climate” if you want the grant. The Lamarck attitude is a salient departure from the automatic and required Darwinian baseline.

Which reminds me that I still need to write about Ruth Moore’s magnificently open-minded 1953 book on Lamarck vs Darwin. I quoted a couple of paragraphs but didn’t write a proper review.
