On this morning’s walk, my old eyes thought I saw some miniature writing on the pavement.
First thought: Micro-graffiti! Neat idea!
Turned out to be a piece of plastic food wrapper, transparent with white letters, so it looked like white paint on the asphalt.
Still a neat idea. In other forms of art, miniatures are valued. Cameos, lockets, miniature paintings, Ogden Nash poems, programming one-liners, fillers, Lord’s Prayer on a pin. Why not micrograffiti?
An “installation artist” could paint clever sayings or trompe-l’oeil images about the size of a coin, scattered across the streets. Rig it as a treasure hunt, with each text providing a difficult metaphorical hint to the next location. Whoever finds all of them wins an NFT.

If nothing else, this is another form of PHYSICAL expression that AI can’t compete or beat. AI can’t get down on its hands and knees with a calligraphy pen and specially mixed paint.
Writers and artists need to get more physical. Writers should think about illuminated manuscripts and private printing presses. Artists should do more painting and sculpting and jewelry instead of digital images.
