I’ve learned over the years that I’m incurably stupid about politics. Fake populists will fool me every damn time, no matter how often I temporarily “catch on” to their fakery.
I’m much harder to fool in economic and scientific areas of life.
Just noticed a neat Constants And Variables. When Bukele took over El Salvador, he was talking a good populist game. I had doubts but hoped he would succeed. When he joined up with Max Keiser to turn the whole country into a Bitcoin Paradise, I could see the fakery instantly.
Later, after rereading the 2019 item, maybe I’m gradually learning. I remembered feeling positive about Bukele, but what I wrote was largely negative, viewing him as a probable Soros tool.
Putting it another way, for 200 years we’ve been planting and controlling the dictators of Central America. Bukele is Our SOB, which now means Our Seller Of Bitcoin.
