Just like the old

Sam Altman, the evil godfather of OpenAI, has started another evil project which is brazenly dystopian on the surface. No doubt at all about the purpose.

Now he’s pretending to be concerned that some “scammers” are hijacking his scam for unlicensed scams.

BlockBeats, a Chinese news site, said in tweets posted earlier today that people in China — where people cannot yet sign up to receive a share of the Worldcoin token when it launches — are purchasing iris scans taken in Cambodia and Africa for as little as $30. The news drew sharp criticism from Twitter users.

Only Satan himself is authorized to own your soul. Subcontractors are not permitted.

And how does Satan propose to solve this?

“Once a proof of personhood is granted, it is crucial to ensure that it is difficult to sell or steal, yet easy to recover.” Users could reclaim their World ID — their verified account — by getting scanned by an orb a second time. This, Worldcoin said, would help deter the illegitimate sale of proof-of-personhood credentials.

Other ID-based systems have layers of backup so you can regain your password by answering extra questions. They don’t require you to call up the sales agent and start the whole process over again. Most likely the authorized sales agent has moved on to other poor villages and can’t be bothered to revisit a previous location.

In other words, you can’t get a refund on your soul. Just like the old story.

In the bitcoin world the “unauthorized” scammers would be working for Satan. “Hackers” always turn out to be the founders absconding with the loot. But Satan operates on a higher level than the usual bitcoiner, so the usual assumptions may not apply.
