Elon’s Neuralink is the latest and nastiest step in our long departure from senses and reality. Elon wants to get directly into our brains with both transmit and receive so he can update our software in the same way he updates the Tesla. Maximum Github, maximum Room 101.
Last year when I was showing the old Maragha and Brahe instruments, I was initially puzzled by the lack of lenses. Glassblowing was already ancient in 1500, and the bottom of a bottle was a lens. Surely those expert instrument makers must have thought about bottles, or looked through the bottom of a bottle. Why didn’t they replace alidades by lenses? I concluded that they wanted direct vision, so they stayed with alidades.

Typically we regard eyes and ears and cameras and microphones as transducers. Our senses are transponders, not transducers. The brain receives and resonates and MODIFIES the overall wave pattern of the universe. Its own momentarily tuned resonances influence the overall pattern in a minuscule way, just as the momentary tuned resonance of one guitar influences the overall sound patterns in the room. This influence may well be an active radiation of waves. Other animals and plants actively radiate waves. Plants send out electrostatic fields, fish send actual radio waves. An antenna-like structure in our cerebellum is strongly suggestive.
But even without active radiation, our IMPEDANCE can affect the shape of the universe’s wave structure, by absorbing or ignoring various frequencies. Our mental activity and attention PHYSICALLY changes our impedance, along with generating waves that can add or cancel the ambient waves. If we are sucking in one frequency, the universe’s harmony is deprived of that frequency near us.
Direct perception is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT FOR SURVIVAL in all of our senses. 2020 broke our direct connection to the microbes in the air. Our immune system is no longer allowed to ACTIVELY DEAL WITH MICROBES in an undistorted way. Its perception is distorted and recycled by muzzles and Lucite and distancing, and the direct alidade of the nostril is replaced by the digital lens of the “vaccines” that aren’t real vaccines.

Today Naomi Wolf answered this question in a PERFECT way, along with another question that has always bothered me. Naomi takes us back to Mount Sinai and sees the whole scenario directly, without the lenses of translators and editors.

“And the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am coming to you in the thickness of the cloud, in order that the people hear when I speak to you, and they will also believe in you forever.”
In other words, God intended for the people to hear His actual voice and witness Him enveloped in a cloud.
“[…]And the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and prepare them today and tomorrow, and they shall wash their garments. And they shall be prepared for the third day, for on the third day, the Lord will descend before the eyes of all the people upon Mount Sinai.”
In other words, the Lord intended for “the eyes of all the people” to see Him.
The people had asked Moses to be their intermediary with direct communication with God, as they feared dying from the experience. But that was their request for an intermediary — not God’s. As the story is written, God had originally sought to be present directly with the entire community.

This answers my lens vs alidade question. The people were meant to see and hear the voice of God for themselves, not through a lens or priest. Islam is strongly ‘sola scriptura’, requiring believers to read the original text AS WRITTEN, and those old Arab astronomers hated distorting intermediaries. Sharia law carries the same attitude into economics.
After running through the Commandments, Naomi hits my second question. What does the “image of God” mean? I’ve never seen a satisfactory explanation. Most explainers treat it as purely visual, which makes no sense at all.

Gen 1:26: “And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness”. Even in the usually excellent Chabad translation, the English cannot convey the full meaning of the text.
Na’aseh — let us make (fashion). “Adam” — man, Adam. “Betsalmenu” — derives from the root “tselem”; Matslemah, for instance, in modern Hebrew, is a camera. So this is indeed well translated as “image.” “Kidmutenu” — “in our likeness.”
But “Dmut” is also from the root “domeh” which also has the meaning of “to resemble”. When a baby is born, friends say that the baby “domeh” (masculine) or “domah” (feminine) to the parents. So this says more, in my reading, than that humans look like God. It says that they resemble God. They are like God. There is a family resemblance and it is more than physical.

God’s image means genes, which is another name for purposes.
God’s purpose and way of working is meant to be our purpose and way of working.
We understood both genes and epigenes correctly BEFORE we saw and theorized about them. After Mendel theorized, we started mounting more and more theory lenses, preventing us from seeing the reality. Watson and Crick saw DNA through the extreme lens of an electron microscope, which led to even more distortion. For 50 years we missed all the subtleties of the regular genes, and we ENTIRELY missed the epigenes. Lysenko saw the epigenes through the valid lens of experiment, but our Darwin and Mendel theory goggles wouldn’t let the experiment through. We didn’t take off the goggles until 1990, perhaps coinciding with the brief moment when we also took off our Russia-hating goggles. Now the reality is understood again. We’re back to Moses and Lysenko and “old wives tales”, who were correct all along.

The scene on Mount Sinai sounds like a magical exhibition. Magic doesn’t mean it was false, it only means that we needed a focuser instead of a glass lens or a priest.
What if we had stayed with direct senses, aided only by magic? Here’s a 1906 alt-history scene. Polistra and friends are inviting the marks to look at the universe through the old Maragha alidade instruments. The marks won’t see any Martians, but they might realize that they can see the universe with their own eyes, limited and highlighted by the focuser of the alidade.
Science and magic were the same thing before the Endarkenment turned science into torture and turned magic into triviality. Both were ways of focusing our attention on the will of God.
