This is a recent interview with some Enid politicians. I was listening to it for background noise while doing graphics. My ears perked up when I heard one of the ladies joking about a previous politician who wanted to SEEment all the medians for global warming. I perked even more when Frank Baker discussed how Ponca suffered when CONTINENTAL moved out.
Ahhh. These are humans, talking human language.
I started listening more closely, and my old impression is reinforced. When I lived in Enid I always thought the local government was considerably better than it “should” have been, given the size of the city and the industrial interests. Still the same. Competent, sympathetic and sane.
By contrast, I’ve lived in Spokane for 32 years. For the first 20 I frequently watched the city council meetings on the access channel, and listened to the politicians. My impression from the start was total incompetence and total corruption, and my impression has only grown worse in recent years with their total participation in Inslee’s NAZI TORTURE.
These Enidites discussed water supply, focusing on their new project to bring water from Kaw Lake east of Ponca. It’s about done, and it will let the city expand both industry and residents. The mayor explained clearly how the current capacity was limiting expansion.
By contrast, Spokane has spent $200 million on a project to create swamps and house-flooding reservoirs all over town, NOT to enable expansion but only to lower the phosphorus in the river by a few parts per billion. Why? Enviro lunacy. Phosphorus encourages algae growth, which has been defined as UNCLEAN and TRUMP WITCH BREATH by the Carbon Cult. Why is algae bad? Because it absorbs CO2 and creates oxygen. Most of the world’s oxygen comes from algae on water, and we CAN’T POSSIBLY ALLOW BREATHING.
