Reddit is being hit by a boycott for an appropriately obscure and inscrutable reason. The management started charging fees for some app that made Reddit easier to use on iPhones. Or maybe the app made Reddit more inscrutable on iPhones, which was probably the desired goal. In either case, the maker of the app quit connecting to Reddit, and now half of the users are boycotting and “going dark” to protest the resumption of real business.
I guess they prefer being The Product. The old tech tyrant propaganda from EFF and Libertarians was aimed at making peasants happy with their productness, and the Reddit peasants haven’t yet come out of the EFF spell.
