Vague observation on usefulness

My courseware work is sort of half-time by average.

1. I put in roughly one year of fulltime work on a new version.

2. Then I sit back and let the royalties roll in for one or sometimes two years.

This provides a constants/variables observation for my feelings when actually working and completing stuff versus being a rentier. Both are part of the same contract, so there’s no confounding variable of different employers or different sets of skills.

Especially pertinent to jail rehab.

The big difference is how I feel about other people’s work. For example, ordering stuff online, like barley from nuts.com or printer ink from HP.

1. When I’m productive, I feel like I’m “entitled” to order barley because I’m helping to keep those folks employed.

2. When I’m a rentier, I’m reluctant to impose on those folks who are doing a hard job without much pay.
