First thought: Well, ordinary people can be selective, but the whole fucking purpose of a reporter is to talk with people he doesn’t like. You’ll never get any Shannon information from NICE people. NICE people don’t have any motivation to break ranks.

Second thought: No, ordinary people DO have to talk to customers and coworkers we don’t like. It’s not the basic definition of our job as it is for “journalists”. Still, everyone has to pacify Karens and serve customers who need our skills, whether we like them or not.
