I finally had to sign up for Twitter (indirectly via Google) because Elon has blocked all non-members. I have no desire to write anything there, but I do need to see the Weather Bureau’s storm info. The Bureau has its own website and Facebook feed, but only the Twitter keeps up with fast-moving storms.
Lots of opinions about Zuck’s new answer to Twitter. He’s stealing two good ideas and one bad idea.
First he stole the form and look of Twitter itself.
Second, his new Threads are automatically populated from existing Instagram users. This good idea was stolen from Substack’s new Twitter-clone called Notes. All subscribers are automatically in Notes.
Third, Zuck is stealing his own BAD idea in the function of Threads. Facebook eliminated time-order for messages a couple years ago, which seriously damaged its usefulness. Apparently Threads is following the same bad trick, which makes it equally useless.
Theft is how you get rich.
