A few days ago I was thinking about bungalows vs ranchers. I have a Poser version of a LONG rancher, which would have made the point better than the squarish rancher I ended up using. The long rancher has an attached garage so it wasn’t suitable for the turning and flipping I needed in that piece.
This proper long rancher was based on a real house where I lived from 1957 through 1964. While trying it out, I remembered an odd difference that was stored in my visual memory. I had never thought about this difference until right now, so it seemed dubious.
My eyes remembered that most of the houses in the neighborhood had higher-up windows in all rooms except the living room. Our house had full-length windows in the bedrooms, which felt less burglarproof than the higher-up windows. With the screen off you could just step through. Was this a fake memory?
Here’s my Poser version:

Here’s the actual house now via Googlestreets, pretty well preserved:

And here’s a sample of the others.

Sure enough, most were more ‘secure’ than ours.
