Specific suckerdom

Listening to something about Altman’s brazenly dystopian Orbs To Capture Your Soul. Deepstate is perfectly open now.

First thought: Not new. Deepstate and undercover agents have always been open to their victims, though not quite as publicly visible as now.

Second thought: Good old Sucker Filter. Make outrageous claims to pull in the suckers who are ready to believe outrageous claims. High-quality suckers need no expensive cultivation.

Third thought: Bitcoin and AI are movements as well as technologies. Movements create a more specific type of suckerdom.

In 1969 the undercover cop who got me to sell him some pot used a brazenly defective cover story. He mentioned that he had heard about me in a local club where I had never been, and he said that he went to Bradner High School, which didn’t exist. (Bradner was part of another town’s school district.) I caught both errors immediately but went ahead and sold the pot.

In 1983 I was in an antinuke group with a “former” CIA man as one of the leading members.

When you’re in a Movement you’re On The Right Side Of History. You’re Changing The World For The Better. A missionary spirit takes over. Normally an obviously bad story would trigger suspicion, but a missionary is happy to see outsiders participating and joining the movement. We can convert this square cop-type guy to a cool hippie! We can convert the CIA guy to peacenik! Details are blurred by the Noble Cause Shield Of Invisibility.

Fourth thought: This is exactly why Deepstate creates and glamorizes Movements.
