Responsible media would…

I’ve seen several threads like this on Reddit.

Chase Bank suddenly withdrew about 100 billion dollars from this guy’s account. More precisely, they withdrew the difference between his actual balance and 100 billion. He’s totally befuddled and can’t get answers from the bank.

Other commenters have been through the same experience and figured it out. This is the bank’s way of “secretly” shutting off access to an account when they suspect it’s being used for fraud. Instead of closing it, which would tell the fraudsters that they’ve been detected, the bank makes it unusable by creating an unfillable overdraft. The bank doesn’t tell the account holder because he might be the fraudster.

Responsible media would talk about this trick OFTEN so innocent people wouldn’t be stuck in ignorance. After it became public the banks might decide that they’re not fooling anyone. We can be sure they’re not fooling the fraudsters, who understand the system far better than innocent people.
