The Archangel Metatron doesn’t seem so silly now. The tech world is channeling the Archangel ChatGPT, who is actually written by human slaves. At least Metatron wasn’t a slavemaster.
Later thought: WHOOPS! Not so fast. Most channelers are innocent, but the biggest ones were EXACTLY fed by armies of slaves. Hubbard gained and retained power by using his celebrity cult slaves to gather info on other celebrities and politicians. The info created mysteriously accurate predictions, and more importantly created blackmail. Hubbard’s ‘auditing’ was assisted by his E-Meter, which was ACTUALLY a controllable panic generator. (And here I can justify the ACTUALLY, since I built one and tried it on myself.)
Hubbard didn’t invent the technique. This 1931 Charlie Chan movie featured a ‘seer’ whose visions were carefully gathered and processed by an army of cult slaves.
Altman is simply adding a modern twist to a long tradition.
