/// Never mind. This was a false indication. Youtube had simply changed their API, which happens fairly often, and the maker of the download app hadn’t caught up with the change.
===============
Youtube has started cutting off most downloads unless you pay for Premium service.
Okay, fine. I’d rather pay than go for free. Customer, not product.
I signed up for Premium, and still no download. No button or other indication. Sources disagree about the limits; some sources said the downloads work in Chrome and Edge but not Firefox. I installed Chrome and Edge, still no download.
Then I found the correct info. Downloads are ONLY available to high-status people with cellphones. You can’t download to a peasant computer even if you pay.
That would qualify as discrimination if anyone cared to sue. I’m not a sewer.
I’ll just bookmark the videos I want to watch later, and play them online instead of downloading. No big deal but the class discrimination is aggravating.
