Looking at the post “debate” discussion, I was struck by the total absence of non-suckers. Everyone in the discussion stays inside a carefully constrained set of Shared Lies.
This led to an extremely simple conclusion, which I’ve been nibbling around for a long time without quite getting there.

Politics has ALL the characteristics and techniques of classic con games. Piles of money, fake ideologies, fake techniques, and fake personalities slosh back and forth, developing “sides” in your mind. You’re supposed to adhere to your selected “good” side in order to discredit the “bad” side. The “bad” side is illegitimate. Fake cops prosecute the “bad” side to satisfy your need for revenge. The swindler ALWAYS gets rid of his accomplices, often turning them over to the police after carefully attributing all the crimes to the accomplice.
The Bitcoin world is vastly more obvious because it doesn’t even pretend to be part of fake traditions called “democracy” and “rights”. Politics hides behind those fake traditions, so it’s harder to discern.
Trump is the master of this discipline. Everything he’s ever done is an expert swindle. Fake businesses pop up and dissolve, leaving employees and customers out in the cold. He fires all of his accomplices, transferring his crimes to them and letting the cops arrest them.

Later for clarity: I’m talking about the American political system, not politics as a general phenomenon. The British system has some non-swindly parts because Brits acknowledge the permanence of caste and the reality of PERSONAL power. The PM is not “elected” by “voters”. He’s an employee of the majority party in Parliament, and they can fire him anytime they FEEL that he’s not performing the job for them. This negative feedback system isn’t theoretical or obsolete; it has worked several times in the last decade, and each replacement caused an actual change in government behavior. Our fake “presidents” automatically remain in power for 4 years and can’t be removed at all. We replace them by a totally fake “device” that always gives the same result, like a button or lever with no connections.
