Via Hollywood Reporter, the AI demons are plotting how to destroy more skills.
Still, across SIGGRAPH, the use of new buzzwords such as “responsible AI” underscored broad fears about the impact the tech could have on Hollywood.
“I’m hearing about actors scanning themselves and copyrighting their scans. I wonder if it’s going to be affordable enough for anyone to do that,” admits one delegate. “The background actors are concerned right now in the strike, and I don’t blame them. Will they be scanned and reused?”
Says Eric Bourque, vp content creation within Autodesk’s Media & Entertainment business: “We really have to make sure it’s ethical, responsible. AI is an additional tool … [artists] will still always be involved.”
We know what ETHICS means. It’s been clear for 20 years. ETHICS means “Kill the poor and unpopular with maximum efficiency and minimum cost.”
Adds Chris Nichols, director of Chaos Group Labs:
Well, we can stop right there. No need to continue. Chaos is their proud goal and purpose.
Continuing anyway:
“There’s so much tedium that happens in computer graphics that is no longer necessary. AI is not about taking jobs from people, it’s about making things faster and more efficient.”
One thing is certain: AI is here, and Hollywood must figure out its place. “We need to move forward with it,” says David Morin, who heads the Academy Software Foundation. “There’s no going back.”
No. AI is not the movement of the stars and planets. It’s not a natural force. It’s a decision made by evil people for evil ends, and it requires a lot of money to implement. Now that QE and ZIRP are gone, some of the money has to come from non-demons who need to think hard about what their investment is doing.

If you really want to talk about ethics, you should ferociously enforce the fake principle that you pretend to follow. Prohibit ALL lost jobs. As soon as a company or chip causes ONE lost job anywhere, instantly defund and disband the company, blacklist its founders and directors, and recall all copies of the chip.
120 years ago unions were rising up to fight a similar battle against the automation of that time. Smart companies realized that creating LOYALTY among employees was actually more profitable than discarding half the workforce every year to satisfy Market Vultures.
Secure workers who feel recognized and rewarded on a personal level do better quality work. Henry Ford was the most famous exponent, but MANY others were following the same Social Economics principles. They avoided unions by outcompeting unions, offering a better deal for workers than the unions were achieving.
