Pointless gripe

Old radio announcers were carefully trained to provide clarity in the spoken word. They took pains to distinguish names or words that sounded the same.

Modern announcers and podcasters didn’t learn the craft. It’s glaringly obvious in the coverage of Sammy’s trial. They routinely and consistently say SBF and FTX and FTT and FTC and SEC. All five acronyms sound the same, which Sammy undoubtedly DID understand when he chose the name for his exchange and chose to use his initials.

It gets even worse when an article includes Sammy’s parents. Sammy is called Bankman-Fried, Mommy is Fried, and Daddy is Bankman.

Just use first names and everything is perfectly clear. Sam. Joseph. Barbara. The Exchange. The Exchange’s Token. Federal Trade Commission. Securities and Exchange Commission. No confusion.
