Noted on this morning’s walk…
A walnut tree dropped a dozen nuts in a dozen seconds from one branch, then stopped. Caught my attention because most of them were falling on a roof, making a loud noise.
The same branch on the same tree dropped nuts on the same roof during my walk a few days ago. Clearly the tree signals one branch at a time, like a cop holding several perps at gunpoint.
Branch #27! Drop em! Branch #28! Drop em!
More speculative question: Was the tree responding to my approach? Does it drop some enticements when it detects an animal or bird that might pick up the nuts?
