Political spammers keep asking me if I’m proud of Biden or proud of Trump or proud of America.
In the first fucking place, I have nothing but hatred toward all excrescences of the national government, with the possible exception of Jerome Powell.
In the second fucking place, proud can’t possibly apply to these entities, even if I had positive feelings about them.
You can be proud of something you made or helped to make. You can be proud of your kids and grandkids. You can be proud of your beautiful garden or your beautiful hairdo. You can be proud of the cars you help to build or the books you help to publish.
Pride arises from MAKING. Pride can’t apply to an entity that was built without our assistance or consent.
