Poignant

Nishad Singh’s testimony focuses sharply on a point I’ve been making since 2014. Nishad admired and respected Sammy UNTIL Sammy instructed him to write dishonest code.

Nerds do a terrible job of judging personalities and social strategies because we don’t have personalities or social skills.

BUT:

When you instruct a programmer to write dishonest code, he catches on.

When you instruct an engineer to design a car that won’t run, he catches on.

When you instruct a bookkeeper to report dishonest sums, he catches on.

This old Racket Squad episode makes the same point in an equally poignant way. After the weak little bookkeeper reports the crime boss to the cops, the crime boss swears that he will never again hire a Loser.

I’m sure Sammy is making the same vow right now as he types furiously on his laptop.

Memo to self: Never hire Losers. Negative Externalities have an incomprehensible subroutine called a “conscience”, which leads them to diminish my productivity by snitching. From now on, only hire Winners like myself. Winners are harder to control, but when properly motivated they will advance my productivity. Remember to read Machiavelli and examine the lives of Dutch Schultz and Roy Cohn for further training.
