Simple recipe for trust

This is hardly new, but seems to be forgotten and reversed in recent decades.

If you want to create trust, you need to solve problems. If you want to solve problems, you need to start at the FIRST AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY.

I learned this lesson when I was teaching. To maintain discipline and trust, you need to HIT HARD on the first day, and continue hitting hard for a while. You can then relax somewhat. If you let problems grow on the first day, all is lost. No way to regain trust and control later on.

Same rule applies in politics, where “elections” cause changes of personality but not changes of action. A new president or mayor or governor should HIT HARD on the first day.

FDR did it exactly right. On the first day he closed the banks and started cleaning and sorting them. The rest of his programs were ready to trigger in the first week. He rolled them out steadily and quickly, giving the enemies no time to respond.

Modern politicians do it backwards. Just after an “election”, politicians RELAX. They feel secure for four years. No need for exertion, everything is wonderful. Two weeks before the next “election”, politicians make noises and occasional real (but temporary) changes in an attempt to fool the sucker “voters”. After the “election” the fake real changes are immediately rescinded to maintain a steady descent into chaos and obliteration.
