Redditors are discussing a news item where Marissa Mayer says Yahoo should have bought Netflix. The commenters come at it from various angles, some citing Yahoo’s downgrading of Instagram.
This one says it all:

Yahoo is used in many business schools as examples of self sabotage.
At one point they had one of the best and most active message board system that had tens of thousands of individuals posting every hour. They had one of the most responsive and in depth messaging systems. They had one of the best search engines available. They had a robust email system that integrated their other products.
Then they started rolling out features that limited the abilities and uses of other entire product lines to the point within a year their message board system was nearly dead, they made their email system so hard to navigate no one wanted to mess with it, they made their messaging system a bloated mess that would sometimes have features change while you were using it. And because the features changed your client was no longer valid. So you had to stop talking, update and see if they were still on.
So much stupid decisions.

Yup. For several years Yahoo was my all-purpose web portal. Search, mail, social media via the Groups. It all worked well, no reason to go outside the portal. Then Mayer took over and started ruining.
