Satan Altman has been fired from his own OpenAI. Cofounder Brockman also “quit” at the same time. Rumors are treating it as the usual “sex” crap, but “sex” crap is ALWAYS a cover story.
This is interesting and sort of refreshing in one way. Tech tyrants generally control EVERYTHING. Their corporations have boards, but the boards are totally blackmailed by the founder. Nothing happens unless the founder wants it to happen.
If the second level of OpenAI has enough power to pull Satan’s blackmail dossier and publicize the “sex” crap, it means the second level has independent sources of funding and influence. Most likely Microsoft.
We still don’t know anything except the “sex” crap rumors, so presumably more info will emerge by leak or inference soon.
In the big picture, all of the crazy tech stuff is dissolving and imploding since Powell pulled the plug on QE in late 2021. Both Sams were pushing wicked civilization-dissolving shit based on MacAskill’s Effective Altruism toxin. Now that business is trying to GET MONEY FROM LIVING CUSTOMERS instead of KILLING ALL THE NEGATIVE EXTERNALITIES, the EA total genocide is losing power. Microsoft is hardly a nice company, but it’s the only big tech firm that still serves real customers who need its products for real work.
