George Packer, who is apparently a famous writer, makes a solid plea for less partisanship in art. His basic point is that nobody is required to be an artist. Nobody is required to treat all subjects fairly and honestly. But if you’ve declared yourself to be a writer or an artist, you must listen to all sides, take them seriously, and treat them honestly. You have to avoid smoothing down the rough spots of your own side.
At 17:00 he says that the progressive agenda is a threat to art, “but it’s not the worst thing in the world; it’s not the same kind of threat as Trump or Trump-Ism.”
He just blew up his own case.
In the first place, Trump and Trump-Ism are EXACT OPPOSITES. Trump is a solid member of the top-level progressive elite. He’s the perfect representative of Hollywood and NYC. Everything he did as President is absolutely aligned with Deepstate, ESPECIALLY the greatest crime in history, imprisoning and strangling the entire country for the sake of a fake “threat”. He enriched the rich and slaughtered the poor.
His ACTIONS are indistinguishable from Bush, Clinton, Obama and Biden.
Trump-Ism means Populism. A populist is a people-ist. A populist wants government to serve the PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY, not the corporations and bankers and spies of this country, and not the people of OTHER COUNTRIES.
Only one US president was a populist. FDR was the perfect populist, the absolute standard for all time. Harding and Ike were pretty good but not perfect. Everyone else was Deepstate.
In the second place, missing the whole point of populism shows that Packer has NOT been listening and taking the other side seriously. He has simply adopted the stupid blind partisan idiocy of his own side.
