But that’s the best argument…

Denyse, herself a former mainstream journalist, is writing about the death of the mainstream dinosaurs.

The newsroom revolt at the New York Times also Canceled Bari Weiss, the staffer who edited Cotton’s piece. Weiss, now a well-known — and largely independent — commentator, summed up the change back in 2020: “the truth is that intellectual curiosity — let alone risk-taking — is now a liability at The Times.” If so, it is no longer a news organization in the traditional sense.

Well, the traditional sense was not curious either. Watergate was not “independent”. Deepstate hated Nixon for personal reasons, so Deepstate helped big media to take him down. LBJ had been committing the same crimes and everyone knew it, but Deepstate liked or feared LBJ, so media didn’t touch him.

Big media has ALWAYS served government by economic necessity. Big corporations require big capital and big distribution channels and big lawyers to defend against big lawsuits. You can’t maintain those privileges unless you please the government.

Bari Weiss is not “independent” by any standard. She agrees with NYTimes about everything. She only dislikes NYTimes because it fired her.

And that’s the best sign that the dinosaurs are gone.

WRITERS WHO AGREE WITH NYTIMES ABOUT EVERYTHING are no longer working for NYTimes. TV news anchors who agree with MSNBC about everything, like Krystal Ball, are no longer working for MSNBC.

When a species can’t keep its own best offspring in the nest, the species is done.
