Via MSN, a new microreactor developed by Westinghouse is being actually installed in Saskatchewan. Supposedly it will go online in 2029, which is still way too slow but better than the INFINITE amount of time taken by other vaporware reactors in this fucked part of the world.
This one is truly micro, powering only a few thousand houses. A small town or a neighborhood. The containment building will be about the size of a school. Westinghouse will exchange the unit for a new one after several years, so the waste won’t remain on site.
After 70 years of moving backwards, and 20 years of false hope, JUST MAYBE this is the real thing.
