Da yoots has got it right.

The Progressive Policy Institute (Will Marshall’s outfit) surveyed young working class folks. If the poll is valid, it shows a remarkably accurate understanding, despite all the toxins spewed by R and D media for decades. These people want Democrats to be like FDR and want Repooflicans to be like Ike.

A couple of specific questions:

If you had to choose, which of the following do you think is most likely to help working people get ahead?

A federal government push for stronger labor unions 15%

Student loan forgiveness for college students 11%

More public investment in apprenticeships and career pathways to help non-college workers acquire better skills 74% (This is what FDR did.)

Which of the following changes in their priorities would you most prefer the Republican Party makes?

Adopt a less extreme stance on abortion and prioritize women’s healthcare 16%

Present a reasonable plan to restore fiscal discipline that includes spending cuts and tax hikes on the wealthy 32% (This is what Ike did.)

Respect democratic institutions and elections 16%

Acknowledge and tackle climate change 9%

Which of the following changes in their priorities would you most prefer the Democratic Party makes?

Give greater priority to economic growth 16%

Expand parental control over what children are learning in school 5%

Prioritize spending tax dollars more efficiently instead of growing government programs 16%

Get tougher on illegal immigration 29%

Stand up to woke progressives 12%

Overall the working class doesn’t care about the partisan fake fights, from “democracy” to “election integrity”, to “climate” to “womxns issues”. The working class cares about WORK and PAY.

This is the deepest Shared Lie about capitalism and socialism. For many decades both parties have been parroting the Tocqueville takers/makers lie. D says free stuff is good, R says free stuff is bad, but BOTH PARTIES AGREE THAT PEASANTS WANT FREE STUFF. As I proved before, peasants DO NOT WANT FREE STUFF, they want REAL PAY for REAL WORK. The parties continue to fight about the lie, even though their own actual success depends on the truth. Unless more dominant problems take priority, parties that increase jobs WIN. Parties that increase free stuff LOSE.
