Substack is declining faster and faster as its algorithm roars down the Superstar road.
For the last two weeks EVERY SINGLE ITEM in the Twitteroid Notes has been a retweet and comment of something written by John Carter. That’s all. The alleged purpose of Notes was to provide an overview of what’s happening and who’s writing. It’s just an overview of John Carter and John Carter’s fans.
Substack should be renamed The John Carter Review.
Tiresome. Not interesting, not news, not worth spending time.

Later partial correction: Notes is only tight when you’re signed in. As with Reddit, if you want variety you have to be a stranger. When I viewed Notes after signing out, I got a much wider range of topics.
It’s still stupid. Paying for membership should WIDEN your range of views. Boring shit should be available to outsiders. Social media should learn a lesson from Canada and Argentina, which used to violate “economies of scale” by offering a WIDER range of American cars than Americans could buy.
