Always the bait-n-switch

Pieces by journalists trying to fix journalism always fail. Right in the middle of pretending to avoid Machiavelli and avoid fake divisions, they spill their true side, which is always the same side.

This piece by Amanda Ripley gets off to a great start, listing all the sins of fake dividers and counseling how to avoid them. It’s no mystery. When a drug is poison, don’t take the drug. Journalism is poison. Don’t take it.

But then……

For example: When we talk to our cousin who lives in a swing state but wasn’t planning on voting, we are ready to listen — and then share a story about why we vote. When we get a chance to support a candidate who is actively trying to restore dignity in American politics, we can knock on doors and spread the word. When our own elected official fails to condemn violence in their own party (which is the only thing that works, remember), we are ready with a carefully worded plea, asking them to do what’s right.

Cousin = Hillbilly three-tooth redneck cracker Fundie White Nationalist Trump voter.

Dignity = Democrat.

Violence = JANUARY_6_VIOLENT_INSURRECTION

All the standard buzzwords in one paragraph. Don’t take sides, support Democrats.

Dignity is an especially toxic buzzword. Politicians who SOLVE PROBLEMS aren’t always dignified. Sometimes you have to get nasty with bureaucrats and legislators to SOLVE PROBLEMS for the people.

Dignity and noise are IRRELEVANT VARIABLES.

We need politicians to DO THEIR FUCKING JOBS. Their job is to protect the PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY, not to protect some other fucking country or the bankers of this country. All of them on both sides are utterly failing to do their basic job. A nice dignified plumber who won’t fix a toilet is useless. A nice dignified farmer who won’t plow his fields is useless. A nice dignified politician who ruins his country is worse than useless.

Vivek says all the right things without any buzzwords. He focuses solely on solving problems, and identifies the problems accurately. But his switch was always visible and is becoming obvious now. He doesn’t intend to be president, he intends to be Trump’s vp. He’s playing the same trick that Bryan played in 1908. After many years of timeless speeches and writings that defined true populism, Bryan joined the Wilson administration and worked effectively to increase war and globalism and mass murder.
