Or at least a new emphasis.
From the start of this blog in 2005 I’ve been hammering on the superstition of “climate”.
Before 1975, people who thought they could influence the weather by prayer and ritual were superstitious primitives. Before 1975, people who treated the weather as a complex pattern of natural cycles were scientists.
After 1975, people who thought they could influence the weather by prayer and ritual were scientists. After 1975, people who treated the weather as a complex pattern of natural cycles were superstitious primitives who must be EXTERMINATED.
Emphasizing INFLUENCE leads to a new thought on astrometeorology, which I was covering in detail two years ago. The astrometeorologists, first Persian then Euro, were NOT thinking they could influence the weather. They were focusing mainly on one part of the complex natural pattern, the movement of planets and moons. They weren’t aware of the more lively parts of the pattern, formed by feedback loops in forests and oceans and algae colonies and so on.
They were NOT superstitious, and even the later corrupted astrologers are NOT superstitious. They don’t claim WE CAN INFLUENCE THE PLANETS. Both old and new are looking at the stars and planets in an observational way, attempting to form theories about how the PATTERNS INFLUENCE US. The theories are scientific. Some of them are clearly wrong, but that doesn’t mean they’re unscientific. Most scientific theories are ultimately disproved.
