I’ve often observed the Constant of Russia and the Variable of Communism.
From 1948 to 1989 we hated Russia because it was COMMUNIST AGGRESSION. Then we loved Russia for a few years after our Color Revolution installed Yeltsin as Our SOB. When Yeltsin handed power to Putin, Russia was no longer our colony. Soon we started hating Russia again because it is RUSSIAN AGGRESSION.
New thought while listening to these Natl Assn of Mfrs films from the early to mid 50s.
They always include a section of propaganda FOR American capitalism, which was perfectly accurate at that time. With FDR’s strict restraints on the banks and stock criminals still enforced, capitalism was in fact serving both workers and consumers wonderfully. Workers were well paid and treated decently, workers were making EVERYTHING here, and consumers could afford a wide variety of good quality products. Housing and health care and cars were all affordable on one ORDINARY MAN’S income.
The propaganda contrasted our benefits with the AGGRESSIVE OUTRAGES OF WARLIKE SOVIET COMMIES, who were evil incarnate. The comparison was wildly exaggerated but basically correct at that time. Our people had better lives than the Russian people.
Our propaganda in the 50s and 60s ALSO emphasized that we didn’t hate Russians because they were Russians. We hated the Communist system that forced them to commit AGGRESSIVE OUTRAGES against the world, such as NOT attacking us and NOT responding to our repeated attacks and encirclements and trade barriers.

New thought: We were spreading our propaganda into Russia via VOA and Radio Liberty IN ORDER TO CONVERT THEM TO CAPITALISM. After we succeeded in converting them to capitalism they would be wonderful nonaggressive nonoutrageous people and we would love them.
Well, we converted them by force, and then we resumed ATTACKING AND OCCUPYING AND OBLITERATING THEM.
Is it any fucking wonder that Russians don’t trust us? Or any human anywhere doesn’t trust us? We play unspeakably nasty and wicked tricks on everyone, now including our own miserable people.
