The house kittycorner from me is a rental with an excellent landlord. For 20 years he’s always managed to keep nice decent families in the house. They change once a year or so, but they’re always fine people, usually married, often with kids and dogs.
The current tenant fits the model. Right now the whole family is out in the yard running around with the dogs, who are loving the snow.
Yesterday morning while I was shoveling, the neighbor walked over and asked if I needed help. I said “Nope, it’s all right, I’ve got it. Thanks.”
It’s good to know that younger neighbors are watching for the oldsters, but it’s even better to announce honestly that I’ve got it. In fact I’m doing better this year than before thanks to improved diet. Potatoes seem to help the vestibular system, which was previously aggravated by roof raking.
