The Repoof pretense of “impeaching” a cabinet official is so far beyond the event horizon of absurdity and brainless triviality** that nobody is noticing it!
Meanwhile, “speaker” Johnson, who looks just like Newt’s lesbian sister, is vowing to do it again now that it abysmally failed the first time.
Normal humans are definitely waking up to the Mach game. Congress lost its purpose many decades ago, and nobody even expects the slightest microfragment of sanity or functionality.
Who are they fooling? I guess there are enough partisan cultists on “both” “sides” to keep the campaign funds flowing, but the small donors are relatively unimportant in money terms.
I can’t imagine that a big donor would enjoy this type of triviality. Big donors like Larry Fink and Larry Fink and Larry Fink expect results and get results. Seems like at least one of those donors, maybe Fink or Fink, should be getting impatient with all of this wasted effort. Why are the servants spending so much time and reputation, and risking campaign funds, on this utter triviality when they could be remedying the desperate poverty of Fink or Fink or Fink.

** In case this isn’t clear, impeaching a president is trivial because the VP of the same party will replace him. Impeaching a cabinet officer is trivial because the president will replace him with an even worse official as revenge.
The only replacement that matters is switching out the entire party in power for the entire opposite party, all at once. This is how the British system works. There is no separate executive branch. When a new party takes over parliament, it replaces every aspect of the power structure with ‘shadow officials’ who have been rehearsing and planning their new jobs for years, and have been inside the loop of information for years. When the people elect the opposite party, they get action, and there’s no EXCUSE for inaction. The new legislators can’t blame the unchanged executive, and the new executive can’t blame the unswitched legislature. Everybody is new and everybody is on the same side, so everybody is able to work. The result of the work isn’t necessarily good, but at least CHANGE is possible, and in recent years the change has been in a good direction. Demonic Boris was replaced by a sequence of increasingly less demonic PMs, showing that negative feedback leads to improvement.
