The only puzzle in politics is why the Repoofs continue to play the Bad Man in the pro wrestling ring. They never actually do anything “evil” by media standards**. All “laws” and court decisions are perfectly aligned with DNC commands, even when Repoofs have “majorities” in all “branches” which would nominally give them the “power” to do something good. Their life would be much easier if they stopped making fake “opposition” noises and adopted the D label along with all the officially required D verbiage.
I have to assume that the Official Bad Men are highly paid and rewarded for their boffo slapstick routine.
Suddenly remembered a prime example of the vaudeville trick from an era when real opposition was still occasionally possible in the political realm.
Our high school pep rallies were a theatrical event, designed to “bring us together” in hatred for our cross-state rivals. Beat Junction City! Beat Salina! Beat Hutchinson! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Wildcats! Part of the theater was a LITERAL vaudevillian slapstick routine.
Mr Bishop, the chrome-domed principal, always came out to speak. The band played the vaudevillian BaRumpTiDump music, accompaniment for a stupid hick, as he took the stage.
Miss Marley, the decrepit tits-on-belly spinster, also spoke at rallies, which was out of character for her. She normally “corrected” our good English into Grammarrhoid nightmares. While she was taking the stage the band played the Offenbach can-can music.
Nobody really hated Mr Bishop and Miss Marley. They weren’t evil. Mr Bishop was short and funny-looking, and he was a fair disciplinarian who punished genuine bad behavior and ignored juvenile silliness. Miss Marley was a sad figure, not a contemptible bitch or faghag.
The band music recruited Mr Bishop and Miss Marley as sacrificial anodes or lightning rods, discharging our contempt in an officially channeled way through officially installed ground rods.
Trump is Mr Bishop. We don’t have an exact Miss Marley, but I suppose characters like MTG fill the spot well enough.

** The one glorious exception is Abbott’s dropshipping of migrants to the demon cities that claim to love migrants. This is the ONLY good Repoof action on the national scale in several decades. Dixie governors were unquestionably HEROIC in saving their own people from the holocaust, but they didn’t help the residents of crazy NAZI states. Abbott’s trick helps the whole country by dividing the NAZI side.
