Still trying to scratch the itch of the Niceness Crusade by Cox and Moore.
Coming at it from a different angle: If niceness is a product, what’s the use case? Why would people want to buy niceness as a component of politics?
Normal people don’t need to buy civility as a component of ordinary life. In real jobs and real home situations, most people know how to get along. They talk about all sorts of things without breaking up into destructive Teams. So niceness is not a needed product in this context.
The Two Governors are trying to sell civility as a supplement for politics. In this context civility can’t possibly have any use case BECAUSE POLITICS IS DIVISION. That’s all. Politics has no purpose except dividing and weakening the peasants so they can’t revolt effectively. When one politician makes the mistake of being nice, his opponent will instantly push him down.

For clarity, when I talk about use and utility, I don’t mean only physical products like food and housing, or physical services like fixing cars or cleaning bathrooms. Art and perfume and entertainment are also useful. People need to enjoy life just as much as they need to eat, and people are willing to pay for ‘enjoyment tools’.
Playing outside the Team lines doesn’t have either type of utility in politics or social media. It’s not a component of the manufactured product, and it makes you unattractive and unpopular. Nobody wants you on their Team, and Teams are EVERYTHING in those spheres.
