Duke U is shutting down its herbarium after a century of maintenance. Other “scientists” are trying to shame Duke into reopening. Sorry, assholes. You created ALL the conditions for collapsing colleges. Now you’re reaping the benefits of your many decades of idiocy. The “biodiversity” types ruined the tobacco industry, which was a mainstay of Duke’s endowment. The “biodiversity” types turned most colleges into a circus of insanity with zero relevance to real-life jobs. The “biodiversity” types moved most real-life SCIENCE jobs into China.

If you want to maintain this facility, pay for it. Buy it from Duke and crowdfund an independent endowment. Don’t shame the owners of Duke into paying for a luxury they can no longer afford because of your long-term destruction of the entire academic profession.
