Now that Super Tuesday is over, the political “election” spam has dried up, and old-fashioned criminal spam is starting to regrow. Click-seekers try to elicit my passwords and credit card numbers by asking for renewals or verifications of subscriptions.
One consistent aspect of these click-seekers is their total disconnect from my actual habits. They constantly want to verify McAfee or Apple or Netflix or SiriusXM or Wells Fargo. I haven’t used McAfee since 2000, and have NEVER used anything from Apple or Netflix or Sirius, never had an account at Wells Fargo. I wouldn’t even know how to watch a Netflix show. The spammers completely avoid my actual media subscriptions or AV subscriptions or bank, which are all major companies, not obscure independents.
Good old Sucker Filter. The swindlers only want to invite suckers who DON’T know which companies they really use. The precise exclusion tells me that the swindlers DO know which companies I really use.
