My view of religion is pretty much the standard ‘watchmaker deist’.
There’s plenty of evidence for a designer of living things. Evolution simply can’t explain the structures and functions of life, though some form of evolution does occur, perhaps only in the epigenes. There’s no evidence at all of maintenance or customer service by the designer. He set things up and then departed, probably moving on to another IPO on another planet. Churches pretend to provide warranties and access to the customer service department, but the connections are fake.
New stupid thought: Corporations and governments are now godlike in an inverted way. They design destruction and war and chaos, and they never provide maintenance or customer service. Connections, when offered, are fake. Corporate AI pretends to arrange visits by the tech, which never happen. Government pretends to arrange “elections” or “public input”, but the control knobs remain firmly set to tyranny and war.
Some small businesses fight both tendencies, providing real orderly products and real customer service. Such businesses are better than God.
