Continuing CH Smith’s point that we don’t even know what quality looks like.
This week the neighborhood is full of trucks and workmen from TDS Fiber Communications, who are installing an underground fiber system.
(1) It’s unnecessary and redundant, since Bell or Qwest or CenturyLink or Quantum or whatever it’s called already has a full fiberoptic system on the poles.
(2) TDS is installing homemade manhole covers instead of the commercial product. Previous manhole and valvehole covers were all properly molded and cast, with WATER or GAS neatly cast into the surface. TDS is cutting out crude circles of 1/2″ sheet iron with a cutting torch, and splattering crude TDS letters on the circle with an arcwelder.
