I’ve said both sides of this many times but didn’t quite assemble the two sides before.
(1) Journalists and advertisers live in a world of Luxury Prospects (aristocrats). They no longer know any Conservative Prospects (peasants) so they feel perfectly free to insult the peasants openly. Newspapers and media of all types constantly punch peasants in the face, then feign surprise when the peasants won’t buy their shit.
(2) Trump’s email spam assumes the suckers are stupid and easily malleable. The advertisers say all sorts of obviously nonsensical things, never worrying that the peasants might catch onto the wrongness. (Classic Sucker Filter)
(3) Assembling the two was triggered by a new trend in the spam, calling Trump The Don. Pure Mafia. Trump is an aristocrat from the start. He’s a fairly rare Mafia aristocrat. Most Luxury Prospects cloak their evil in refined language and refined behavior. Trump’s campaigners are ALSO punching the peasants in the face in a more indirect way. They’re not hurling insults at us; they’re treating us like inanimate objects because PEASANTS ARE NOT ALIVE.
A common belief among Catholic intellectuals, who dominate the “conservative” thinktanks, holds that morality comes only from rationality. Animals aren’t rational, therefore animals don’t have souls and can’t be moral or conscious.
This set of beliefs aligns perfectly with the Peter Singer / Sam Altman / Effective Altruist types, who cavalierly toss peasants into the same category as animals. Consciousness is restricted to 200 IQ autists like Sam. Everything else is dust and dirt which needs to be disinfected and cleansed so Sam can have a perfectly clean universe.
Nature disagrees. Many mammals and birds are far more moral than humans, and show more empathy and consciousness than humans. On average peasants are more moral and more empathetic than aristocrats, especially the modern Sam type.
