Pointless peeve

I’m tired of seeing water bottles in every goddamn podcast and TED talk. Everyone unscrews the cap, sips tap water from disposable plastic, then screws the cap back on every goddamn time. There’s no reason to screw the cap on. You’re not going to put the bottle back in the refrigerator when you’re done.

We need an easier way to drink tap water! Perhaps a really clever innovator could develop a container shaped like the bottom part of a bottle, made of a transparent nonporous nondisposable material. Since everything is silicon now, one possible material would be silicon dioxide.

Such a container would be much easier and quicker to use, could be washed instead of “recycled” to a landfill in China, and wouldn’t leach plastic molecules into the tap water.
